He is best known as the creator of Kirby and Super Mario , as well as leading designer of Resident Evil 2 . He joined Nintendo in 1987 and became an employee in its game development division for 8 years. Uda was born on March 9th, 1963 in Kyoto, during an abnormally prolonged storm with lightning striking within metres of his house. Uda's family moved to Matsumoto City , Nagano Prefecture when he was 3 years old . Uda's mother and father worked at a local police station and a post office, respectively, and he likewise worked in the same post office when he was in high school. The employees of his parents' workplace often gathered to talk about their children, which sparked an interest for Uda in analyzing what kind of people they were. As such, Uda became very attentive during the gatherings and observed his fellow workers' characters. During his last year of high school, Uda was fascinated by the work of comedian Noritake Kinashi , who specialized in impersonations; he adored Kinashi's act so much that he thought nothing was funnier than it . During the same year, Uda attended a live performance of Kinashi. He was struck with inspiration after watching him perform. Uda later decided to study visual design at Japan's Kyoto Seika University . He was good enough to be admitted with honors, and lasted for two years before dropping out. His first work at Nintendo was on Kirby 's Dream Land . He later left the Game Development Division on April 18th, 2007 to devote himself entirely to his current position as general manager of Entertainment Planning & Development. He is now one of the most important men in Nintendo Entertainment Analysis & Development .Super Mario Bros. is the first game Yoshihiro U. worked on. He planned to make it on the Famicom, but Nintendo president Satoru Iwata wanted it on the SNES instead, and the game was later ported to both platforms. Uda was responsible for planning and directing of Mario's Super Bell Hill stage in Super Mario 64 . He designed the concept of the flying piranha plants , inspired by his own difficulties with insects while working in a garden. He is also known for having said "Bowser is so cute! I wanna pet him!" After designing multi-directional scrolling stages in Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario Bros. 2 , Uda planned to make a game that was designed like a board game. This resulted in the creation of Super Mario Bros. 3 . The Japanese box art for "Super Mario 3" was drawn by Shigeru Miyamoto, and it has become one of the most iconic and well-known video game cover arts of all time. Miyamoto doubted his drawing abilities and contemplated having the art done by Mikio Saito, who was also working on the graphics for this game. It wasn't until Shigesato Itoi suggested that he let Uda do it that the idea was rejected and Miyamoto drew it instead. cfa1e77820
